#sparkchamber 092120 — Larry Mollin

As summer ends and a new season begins, #sparkchamber is thrilled to welcome storyteller Larry Mollin. “A child of sex drugs and rock and roll generation and grew from it,” Larry was raised in the suburbs of NY, and went to Georgetown School of Foreign Service. However, he quickly saw that, “being groomed for government work was not for me.” He found a passion for theatre — Larry was a playwright and Artistic Director of Toronto’s Homemade Theatre, a seminal performance group of the 1970’s — and it took him all the way to Hollywood.

He is best known for his work on Beverly Hills 90210 for which he wrote and produced one-hundred twenty-eight hours from 1993-1998, the height of the show’s popularity. He currently participates in a live, weekly podcast on Facebook Live and YouTube, talking with folks from in front of the camera and behind the scenes about iconic moments, character profiles, storylines, music, casting, and little known odds and ends about the show. Definitely check it out!

Also, he just published a second novel! Cayuga is a twisting, turning investigation into a 13-year-old unsolved mystery taken on by career-challenged writer and semi-retired LA private detective, Max Dean. A thrilling, wild ride and perfect place to check out from reality.

1.] Where do ideas come from?

Feelings, Experience, daydreams

2.] What is the itch you are scratching?

Being in other worlds with people I can control sometimes. And sometimes they control me.

3.] Early bird or night owl? Tortoise or hare?

Morning but all through day and night it is on the screen writing and revising.

4.] How do you know when you are done?

The feeling of satisfaction because you can write THE END. And know it’s the end because there is no more to tell.
